At 18:07 this evening a call was received to a Carbon Monoxide alarm sounding in a property on Park Road, the caller reported that they had also been feeling unwell. On crews arrival they found that the building had been ventilated and the gas boiler had been isolated. An Ambulance was requested to attend to check the Occupant over. Firefighters re-sealed the building and restarted the gas boiler to allow any carbon monoxide gas to build up in the premise. Whilst talking with the occupant of the building they were told that a further five people resided in the house but were out at that time. All of the occupants of the house were taken to Derriford hospital to be checked over. Once carbon monoxide gas levels had been allowed to build back up in the premise two firefighters in breathing apparatus with a gas detector and a Quattro gas monitor entered the building – a maximum level of 20 parts per million of carbon monoxide was recorded in the premise. A gas engineer attended the premise to make the boiler safe and smoke detectors were fitted in the house before fire crews left scene.
