About 50 firefighters from St Just, Penzance, Camborne, St Ives and Truro fought a fire involving the thatched roof of a cottage, measuring 15 metres by 15 metres.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used 3 jets and 2 hosereels to save the structure of the building, although the roof was lost.
Crews remained on scene damping down well into the evening.
General Advice:
Owners/occupiers of properties with thatched roofs need to take particular care with any any hazards that may cause a fire.
Chimneys need to be swept often and regular maintenance carried out to ensure their intergrity.
