At 16:27 this afternoon a call was received to a large tree which had fallen onto a van on the A3038. The vehicle was being driven at the time and fire crews said it was a miracle that the vans occupant was not injured. Fortunately when the tree fell large branches came down around the main body of the van leaving the driver unharmed. Due to the size of the tree the A3038 has been blocked and remains closed whilst the tree is removed, the van has been left in situ.
The tree is of such a large size that it has also been left in situ overnight and will be removed on Tuesday morning, it is expected that it will take 6 hours to cut up and re-open the road.
