Crews from St Dennis St Austell and Bodmin are currently attempting to rescue a deer trapped in clay slurry at Imerys china clay pit at Melbur near Summercourt. Specialist rescue equipment is in use further update as information is recieved.

Update 1032Hrs: Crews have successfully rescued the deer uninjured from the clay slurry. Firefighters wearing dry suits, life jackets and harnesses reached the deer using a 5metre and two 2metre inflatable rescue paths. An RSPCA Inspector was also in attendance. The crews are now making up the equipment and will shortly be leaving the scene. The deer was washed down to remove the clay slurry and was then released back into the wild.
