At 16:08 a call was received to smoke issuing from a window of a flat on East Hill. Two appliances with a total of eleven firefighters from St Austell were mobilised to the incident. On the fire services arrival smoke was issuing from the flat and the location of the occupant was unknown, crews used four breathing apparatus to search the premise for the occupant. At 16:27 an Ambulance was requested to attend to treat the occupant who was suffering from smoke inhalation, a neighbour who raised the alarm had heleped the casualty from the premise. Fire crews used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was out a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the premise and a fire investigation is being carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
