Barn Fire

Watergate bay, Newquay at 09/08/2014 01:03

Twelve firefighters on two appliances from Newquay attended a report of bales in a barn on fire. On their way to the incident crews requested a water carrier was mobilised to the incident - three firefighters on a water carrier from Wadebridge were mobilised to the scene. On arrival crews confirmed that there was 40 bales of hay on fire on a large trailer within an open sided barn which measured 20 x 30 metres. Within a few minutes of being at the fire a request for a third fire appliance was made asking for the crew on board to set into a hydrant and run hose reels to the site as there were limited water supplies in the area. Fire crews used four breathing apparatus and three hose reel jets to extinguish the fire. Devon and Cornwall Police attended this incident.
