Smoke Detector Alerts Neighbour To Pan Left On Stove

Chestnut Close, Torpoint at 07/09/2014 13:22

Two fire appliances from Torpoint Community Fire Station and one fire appliance from Saltash were mobilised following a report that a smoke detector was actuating and that there was a smell of smoke from a house.

Torpoint firefighters gained access to the house to discover that a pan had been left on a stove and had boiled dry. Although the food was burnt, fortunately nothing else had become involved. The occupant returned whilst the fire crews were venting the smoke from the property and suitable fire safety advice was given.
