Appliances from Liskeard and Callington attended a report of thick black smoke issuing from the kitchen. The premises was a semi detached building approx ten metres by twenty five metres which had been altered into six bedsit flats. The fire was in a ground floor flat kitchen and involved a rubbish bin, causing the flat to be heavily smoke logged. Firefighters wearing two breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire which is believed to have started accidentally. Crews used natural ventilation and a positive pressure fan to remove smoke from the premises.
