Animal Rescue

Ladock at 25/09/2014 16:35

At 16:35 a call was recieved to an horse which had become trapped under a tractor and trailer after slipping down a bank. The horse was trapped head first under the vehicles and on the intial call a Vet was requested to attend. Five firefighters in an appliance from Truro were mobilised to the scene along with specialised line rescue equipment and crash rescue equipment from Camborne. A total of seventeen firefighters attended the horse rescue. Once the horse was sedated by the vet, fire crews used a piece of heavy lifting equipment called a Pall-Finger to lift the trailer off of part of the animal, and the tractor was driven forward to release the remaining trapped part of the horse. The young chestnut male was left in the care of the vet and his owners after the rescue. It is believed that the horse did not sustain any serious injuries during this incident.
