Barn Fire

On receipt of this call both appliances from Truro were mobilised, on arrival the crew found the barn well alight, further assistance was requested and an appliance from Perranporth and the water carrier from Helston were mobilised. The fire involves a barn measuring approximately ten metres by six metres containing hay and farm machinery, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are committed at the scene and are using two high pressure hosereel jets.

Update 0100 hours: A water shuttle is in place at this time, high pressure hosereel jets are still in use, Western Power have been requested to isolate the supply at the scene.

Update 0200 hours: Crews are still proceeding to use two hosereel jets at this time.

Update 0400 hours: Resources from Perranporth and Helston and one appliance from Truro have left the incident, the remaining appliance from Truro is still continuing to use hosereel jets at the scene to protect an adjacent barn, 100 bales of hay and straw are being allowed to burn under supervision.

Update 0600 hours: The incident is continuing with crews protecting the adjacent barn and allowing the contents of the barn to burn under supervision, which will continue through the morning.
