House Fire

Appliances from Delabole, Wadebridge and Bodmin, together with a command support vehicle from Launceston and an operational support vehicle from St Austell attended a house fire in Camelford. Fire Control took the first call at 0127hrs, with several others following, stating the property was on fire and flames could be seen in the roof. Firefighters found the terrace cottage second floor to be well alight and firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus used two hose reels and two main jets to fight the fire. One male was treated by ambulance personnel on scene for smoke inhalation, on which we have no further details.

The incident involved three properties with an approximate area of twenty five metres by ten metres. One property which had fire damage and the other two properties suffered smoke logging. In total firefighters wearing three breathing apparatus used three jets and three hose reels to extinguish the fire. Crews are now in the process of leaving scene (0519hrs) although one appliance will remain at the incident to damp down any hotspots. Western Power have also been in attendance and isolated the power in the affected properties.

A fire investigation will take place later this morning and it is believed that the A39 Fore Street, Camelford will remain closed until approximately lunchtime, diversions are in place.
