Seventeen 999 calls were received by Fire Control from passing motorists reporting a Camper Van on fire in a layby just before the Mitchell turn-off on the A30 westbound carriageway.
Crews from Newquay, St Columb and St Dennis attended the scene where the camper van was found to be well-alight and had further spread to the grass verge.
Crews extinguished the fire using 2 breathing apparatus, 2 hose reel jets and small gear.
Police have closed the layby for the time being.
