Following a call to Fire Control of a suspected chimney fire in Werrington, a crew from Launceston Fire Station were immediately mobilised.
On arrival at scene, the officer in charge requested "make pumps 2" as there was smoke issuing from the roof tiles, so a second pump was also mobilised.
The chimney was found to have an awkward access so the crews had to access the roof space via the loft and, using safety lines for working at heights, a hose reel, rods, triple extension ladder, roof ladder and a thermal imaging camera, the crew extinguished the fire that was actually inside AND outside of the chimney liner.
Advice was given to the occupants of the house, plus a smoke alarm was fitted to the first floor.
