A crew from St Austell Fire Station attended a suspected chimney fire earlier this evening.

Just prior to their arrival, the caller rang Fire Control again to say that the fire was now out but was told that we would still attend to double-check this for them.

On the crew's arrival it was found that the chimney was in fact still on fire, isolated, though, within the chimney flue liner.

The fire was extinguished using small gear and chimney rods.
