At 21:28 this evening a call was received to a property where there was reported to be a fire in an upstairs bedroom. Two appliances from Penzance with a total of eleven firefighters were mobilised to the scene. On crews arrival a request for a third pump was made – six firefighters in an appliance from St Just was mobilised. The property involved was a large mid terrace property and crews confirmed there was a fire in a first floor bedroom; crews entered the building with two breathing apparatus and one hose reel. At 21:46 crews had rescued one casualty from the property and were administering oxygen prior to the arrival of Ambulance crews. At 21:50 a request for a fourth appliance was made and six firefighters in an appliance from St Ives were sent on to the incident. At this time four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were in use. At 22:21 the fire was being fought in the roof space of the building, crews were using six breathing apparatus and one hydrant was in use. The gas and electricity supply to the building have been isolated and good progress is being made by the Fire service.
Update:Once the main body of the fire was extinguished one fire crew remained on scene for an hour and half damping down and turning over hot spots. One casualty was taken to hospital via Ambulance. A fire investigation will be carried out at this property in the morning.
