Pumping appliances with crews from St Dennis, St Columb, Bodmin and St Austell attended a large gorse fire, at Goss Moor, earlier this evening, following several repeat calls from passer-bys and callers from nearby or overlooking residencies, to Fire Control.
As the fire was underneath and between pylons, intially Western Power, then the National Grid, were also requested to attend the scene.
The gorse fire was in an area of approximately 40 acres - there were two main fronts; one approximately 200 metres in length, and the second approximately 40 metres in length. Crews used one hose reel jet initially, then beaters in the main, to extinguish the fires.
