At 10:15 hrs a 999 call was received stating that there was a fire involving a gas axe and gas cylinder in a premise at Treswithian. Two appliances from Camborne and Penzance were mobilised to the scene along with a Flexi duty and one Hazardous Materials officer. Fire crews were on scene within three minutes of the initial call; the fire was out on arrival as the gas supply to the cylinder. Crews assessed the cylinder using a thermal imaging camera and the facility was evacuated. An Ambulance was requested to attend to treat one casualty suffering from minor burns and smoke inhalation. Fire crews cooled the cylinder by applying water to the cylinder with a hose reel before rechecking the temperature of the cylinder. Fire crews monitored the gas cylinder for over one hour until the scene was declared safe. There are no more details available on this incident.
