One pumping appliance with a crew of 6 firefighters from Callington Fire Station attended a call to a property that had a suspected chimney fire, earlier this evening.

Upon their arrival, the crew called for the smaller land rover appliance to be mobilised as access to the property was narrow. So four further firefighters, also from Callington Fire Station, attended the scene in that vehicle.

The crews found the three storey property's woodburner had a chimney with a very difficult access and best access to the chimney breast was found to be via the first floor bedroom. Crews used one hose reel, a strirrup pump and rods, and small gear to extinguish the fire, which was accidental and confined to the chimney itself.
