Fire In a Chalet Roof

A total of sixteen firefighters on three appliances from Callington and Saltash attended a call to a property where a chimney fire had spread to the roof of the premise. The fire involved a single storey chalet style building measuring 10 x 8 metres. The fire had spread from a woodburner into the roof space. The ground floor and roof space were well alight on crews arrival and initially they used two hosereels and four breathing apparatus. Crews made access to the roof constructed of corrugated metal panneling and timber. To remove the roof pannels triple extension and roof ladders were used along with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one safety jet. Due to the nature of the incident the Fire and Emergency support service (FESS) vehicle from Falmouth attended the incident.
