At 20:35 a call was received to a large industrial oven on fire in a business on Tavistock road, Callington. Two appliances with nine firefighters from Callington were mobilised to the scene. On crews arrival the oven was well alight and the ground floor of the factory involved was severely smoke logged. The building measured 100 x 200 metres and consisted of three floors. Initially the fire was being tackled with one hose reel and two breathing apparatus. At 20:46 a request that a further two appliances attend the incident, two appliances from Saltash with twelve firefighters were mobilised to the fire. Using four breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet fire crews made good progress and at 21:22 the fire was believed extinguished. Other ovens in the premise were shut down to prevent further chance of fire and positive pressure ventilation fans were used to force ventilates the building. Firefighters assisted on site hygiene team with assisting burnt products from the oven and continued to ventilate.
