Horse Rescued From Mine Shaft

Off North Roskear road, Camborne at 31/03/2015 15:27

At 15:27 a call was received by Cornwall Fire Control to a horse which had fallen two metres into the top of a mine shaft. Two appliances with ten firefighters from Camborne and Truro were mobilised to the scene along with a crew from Penzance in a specialist Line Rescue appliance. The animal was sedated by a vet to allow fire crews to work safely and to reduce any injuries. A Pal finger on the line rescue appliance was used whilst crews set up a tripod and line rescue equipment. Crews cleared bracken and gorse away from the top of the shaft to allow better access to the shaft before the tripod and a winch were put into action. The horse was further sedated by the Vet and two firefighters were committed to the shaft wearing line rescue equipment. Using the tripod and Pal finger the horse was lifted from the top of the shaft to a safe location.
There are no more details available on this incident.
