Car Crashes Onto Railway Line

At 09:19 this morning Fire Control received several calls to a car which had gone through a wood fence, down a steep embankment stopping when it hit the railway line below. Two appliances from Looe with eight firefighters and one appliance from Liskeard with four crew were mobilised to the incident. The vehicle had gone down the 10 metre bank and the female driver was still in the vehicle on fire crews arrival. Railtrack were informed of the incident and confirmed that the railway line was closed and that it was safe for fire crews to access the incident along the railway line. The single vehicle was resting on the railway lines, crews used crash rescue equipment to release the casualty who was left in the care of Ambulance paramedics. Network rail engineers attended who dealt with the safety of the railway between Looe and Coombe junction. Once the casualty had been released firefighters left the scene in the care of British Transport Police.
