Dishwasher Fire

At 02:51 this morning a call was received to a property full of smoke which had been evacuated by its occupants. Two appliances from Falmouth with eleven firefighters were mobilised to the scene. On arrival at the detached premise crews confirmed that there was a fire located in the kitchen and two breathing apparatus with one hose reel and a safety jet were in use. At 03:10 an assistance message was made and a third appliance was requested to attend, an appliance from Truro with six firefighters on board was mobilised to the scene. The premise involved measured 10 x 12 metres and at 03:16 a total of four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were being used to extinguish the fire which had started in a dishwasher. The Fire and Emergency Support vehicle (FESS) staffed by Red Cross volunteers was mobilised to the scene to assist and support the occupants of the premise. At 03:45 the fire was confirmed as out, the dishwasher involved in the fire was removed to outside of the premise by firefighters. Two crew wearing breathing apparatus used a positive pressure ventilation fan to blow any residual smoke from the building. Once breathing apparatus were withdrawn, crews cut away in the building to ensure that no hot spots remained.
