The Arson Task Force is a joint partnership between Cornwall County Fire Brigade, Devon Fire and Rescue Service, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary and the Isles of Scilly Fire Brigade. It is committed to reducing arson incidents across the South West.

The Arson Task Force will be investigating any suspicious fires during the strike action and will continue to identify arson incidents and the offenders.

Arson is a serious offence with a maximum penalty of life imprisonment. The fact that the courts take a serious view of arson was shown in a recent case in Plymouth. An offender committed arson for the first time and was sentenced to five years in prison.

The Arson Task Force utilises the skills not only of the Fire Brigade Fire Investigators but also fire investigation trained Scenes of Crime Officers and Forensic Scientists.

We will ask any Members of the Public to be particularly vigilant and report any arson related information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, anonymously if they so wish.
