A 999 call from a member of the public alerted Fire Control that a car, with a person trapped inside, had gone into the water on the Fowey side of the Fowey Car Ferry.
Fire crews from Fowey and Bodmin Stations were mobilised, plus specialist water rescue teams from St Austell and Falmouth Stations; along with two whole time officers.
Fire Control also contacted, to attend, the Ambulance Service, the Police, the Coastguard, both Fowey lifeboats, the Fowey Harbourmaster, RAF Kinloss and the Helicopter from Culdrose.
Initial reports from first on scene was that the car had submerged in the harbour, soon after quickly establishing that there were no persons trapped after all.
Two fire crews stayed at the scene to assess, with the help of the Harbour Master, recovering the vehicle from approximately 8 feet deep of water – later enlisting a diver to strop the car with webbing straps to then successfully winching the car from the river.
This is all the information we have on this incident.
