Five firefighters from Launceston, six firefighters from Bude and a Crew from Holsworthy attended a call to a 12.5 tonne grain dryer on fire. The dryer was well alight on crew’s arrival and contained oil seed rape. On crews arrival the gas supply to the dryer was isolated; Bude crews were the first to be in attendance and used two breathing apparatus and one hose reel on the fire. When the additional resources had arrived four breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used to cool the external sides of the grain dryer. A small access panel was used to unload some of the grain from the dryer and a third hose reel was used. Firefighters used shovels removing circa 50% of the dryers contents. At 12:57 two breathing apparatus, a triple extension ladder and one hose reel were in use extinguishing small hot spots on top of the dryer.
