Two crews, totally 10 firefighters, on two pumping appliances from Saltash Community Fire Station were requested to attend a baler fire this afternoon.

Upon their arrival the baler was well alight, along with 50 square metres of grass surrounding. Crews initially used two hose reels and beaters to tackle the fire - increasing this to 4 hose reels plus 2 breathing apparatus.

Once the fire was contained, crews continued to dampen the area down, further removing smouldering bales from the baler, using one hose reel and pitch forks.
