At 0022hrs Fire Control received a call from a passer-by reporting hay bales in a field that were on fire. One fire appliance from Tolvaddon Fire Station attended and found 120 x 1 tonne hay bales well alight. There were large volumes of smoke reducing the visibility down to between 100 yards and zero on nearby road, therefore the Police and Highways were requested for traffic management and road closure.
There is no nearby risk to property or life so fire crews are monitoring and allowing to burn. Arson is suspected and Police have been informed.
