Cornwall County Fire Brigade is launching a brand new staff booklet designed to assist staff in Equality and Diversity, and is rewarding a group of individuals who have contributed to the design of an eye-catching logo.
The subject of equality and diversity is considered very important within the fire service, especially as they are encouraging people from all backgrounds to consider a career as a firefighter.
At the beginning of the year the Brigade’s Equality and Fairness Group, which is chaired by the Deputy Chief Officer Matt Littmoden, asked members of the fire service to design a logo that could be used to assist in the recognition of the importance of equality.
“Various individuals started sketching including the Fire Brigade cadets who produced some excellent art work. The final winner was one of our administration staff, Cath Hill, who produced a logo that depicted everything we were looking for”
said the Brigade’s Equality and Fairness Advisor Julia Hatch
She cont: “The staff booklet has been designed as a resource and each member of staff will receive their own copy. It supports the training that all personnel are getting in equality and diversity and acts as a point of reference should anyone need to discuss equality and diversity in the workplace”
