2 appliances from Falmouth were quickly on scene and crews used breathing apparatus and a hosereel to extinguish the fire in a bedroom on the first floor. The remainder of the first floor was severely damaged by smoke.
The fire was caused by one of the boys playing with a lighter which ignited his pyjamas and bedclothes. He was removed to hospital suffering burns.
The Fire Officer that attended said that the boys were extremely lucky to escape the fire and much effort will be put into making people aware of the dangers of playing with lighters.
