Fire In Dryer

Dairy Crest, Davidstow at 19/11/2002 23:23

Two crews from Delabole, One crew from Launceston and one crew from Bude attended a large fire in the dryer at the dairy. The fire was very difficult to access because it was contained in the ducts surrounding the conveyor belt. Crews worked in extremely hot conditions for a few hours until it was decided that they needed to access the fire from the stainless steel vent on the roof. A plasma cutter was used to cut through the stainless steel and after this the crews were able to extinguish the fire within half an hour. They were at the incident until 3.20am.
