Shredding Machine Fire

One fire appliance from Bodmin Community Fire Station attended reports of smoke seen in the distance. On arrival it was discovered that a shredding machine was well alight and a further appliance and water carrier was requested, due to lack of water supplies. An appliance from St Dennis Community Fire Station and the water carrier from Wadebridge Community Fire Station were mobilised.

Firefighters, some wearing breathing apparatus, used one jet and two hosereels to extinguish the fire by 1940hrs. Water was shuttled to the incident from a hydrant at the entrance to the Victoria Trading Estate by the water carrier. Firefighters remained on scene for some time damping down for some time.

Arson is suspected as the cause of the fire and Devon & Cornwall Police have been informed.
