At 04:58 Fire Control received a call to a report of smoke issuing from a property in New Bridge Street. Appliances and the aerial ladder platform from Truro were mobilised, together with an appliance from Falmouth. Since the initial call further appliances from Tolvaddon, Perranporth, St Austell and Hayle and specialist appliances from Falmouth, St Dennis and St Just are also in attendance.

The commercial property consists of three storeys and measures approximately four metres by seven metres. Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus are using two hose reels and two main jets together with a thermal image camera.

At 06:04 a message was received stating that the fire on the ground floor has been extinguished and crews were gaining access to the first and second floors where smoke was issuing.

0910 update: The aerial ladder platform and 6 pumps remain on scene at this time. A fire investigation will be carried out later on today.

1200: We remain on scene at this time. 6 pumps are still in attendance.

1600: We have now left the scene. A fire investigation is due to take place.

Update: Monday 2 November at 1700 hours - A Fire Investigation has taken place with colleagues from Devon & Cornwall Police, Arson is suspected. Any further information regarding this incident may be obtained by contacting Devon & Cornwall Police.
