Twelve firefighters on two appliances from Falmouth and Helston were mobilised to an incident where smoke alarms had woken the occupants of the premise and alerted them to the lounge which was full of smoke. On arrival crews reported that there was an excessive build-up of debris behind a wood burner, the material had fallen down the chimney. The wood burner was removed from the hearth and crews used a hearth and chimney kit to extinguish a chimney fire in the flue. Firefighters inspected the roof space and carried out a home fire safety check before leaving scene.
