Smoke Alarm Alerts To Small Electrical Fire

Newquay Road, St Columb Road, near Indian Queens at 18/11/2015 10:31

One fire appliance from St Columb and one fire appliance from St Dennis attended a report that a smoke alarm, that had recently been fitted by Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service, was actuating and that there was a strange smell. On arrival the crews used a thermal imaging camera to locate a small fire in the electric fuse board. The electricity supply was isolated and a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher was used to deal with the fire. The smoke alarm had given early warning of the fire and no-one has been injured.

This property was visited by a Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service Community Fire Safety Advisor two weeks ago to carrry out a home fire safety check. It was during this visit that the smoke detectors were fitted.
