Van Crashes Onto Railway Line

Jolly's Bottom, Chacewater, near Truro at 06/12/2015 06:49

At 06:49 this morning, Network Rail rang Cornwall Fire Control asking for assistance with checking and removing a vehicle that had crashed onto some railway lines near Jolly's Bottom at Chacewater, near Truro.

Trains were stopped, and crews from Truro and Tolvaddon Community Fire Stations, with a total of 11 firefighters, were mobilised to the area.

On their initial arrival at the scene, they found that the single vehicle, a van, was on its side on the train track.

Access was gained to the inside of the van establishing that there were no persons trapped inside, making all persons accounted for, and also that there were no hazards within it.

The crews made the vehicle safe and once a test train could pass on the railway lines successfully, operational trains were able to use the tracks again, obviously passing the area under speed restriction and caution.

The incident was handed back to Network Rail and The British Transport Police.

This is all the information we have on this incident.
