Following a call to Fire Control of a fire in a house of multiple occupancy in Tower Road, Newquay, pumping appliances from Newquay and St Columb Community Fire Stations, with a total of 18 firefighters, plus a whole time officer were mobilised to the incident.

Upon the first crew's arrival, it was established that not all persons were accounted for, and 2 breathing apparatus were donned to search the premise.

The multiple occupancy four storey building, approximately 5 metres x 8 metres in size was found to have a kitchen fire. This was extinguished by crews wearing breathing apparatus and using one hose reel jet, while other personnel searched the premise, where all persons were soon accounted for. The smoke was ventilated naturally, and crews checked the building for smoke ingress.

Arson is suspected and the matter was left with the Police, who were also in attendance.
