On receipt of a 999 call to fire control from a concerned neighbour, who was woken by a smoke alarm sounding, two appliances from St Austell Fire Station and a Flexi Duty Officer were mobilised. On arrival, crews, who were wearing breathing apparatus, confirmed a smell of smoke and rapidly forced entry into a flat and rescued a female occupant who was suffering smoke inhalation. An ambulance was requested and on scene quickly to take care of the casualty, who was checked over and able to return to the flat. The cause of the fire was a toaster and was accidental and confined.
