Smoke In Electric Meter

River Street, Truro at 09/12/2002 12:25

Two crews from Truro Fire Station attended a fire in River Street. The manager of the property was advised that smoke could be seen issueing through the floorboards upstairs so he quickly evacuated the building and called 999. When the crews reached the scene they found a downstairs electric meter which had started to smoulder, subsequently setting light to the chipboard behind. They extinguished the fire using a CO2 extinguisher.
Western Power were then called to the scene to deal with the fault in the meter.
