Horse Rescue

Downgate, Callington at 16/02/2016 16:39

Following a call to Fire Control, from a farm in Downgate, Callington, where it was reported that a horse had fallen onto its side into a stream and couldn’t get out, the caller was advised to call his vet, and crews, including water rescue teams, from Callington, Bude, St Austell, and Bodmin were mobilised to the scene, along with a wholetime officer.
Upon the arrival of the first crew, it was ascertained that the horse, measuring approximately 15 hands high, was lying in a running stream, measuring less than 18 inches deep.
Attending crews managed to get a strop and a halter in place to secure and settle the animal, whilst awaiting arrival of the vet.
The 33 year old male horse was then successfully rescued by crews from the stream and placed onto the side of the boggy field; the farmer was further assisted by the crews to help then move the horse onto drier land
The horse was left in the hands of the attending vet and farmer.

This is all the information we have on this incident.
