Carbon Monoxide Incident

Five firefighters on one appliance from Penzance were mobilized to a call to a domestic premise whose carbon monoxide alarm was sounding and the occupant was feeling unwell. On crews arrival the alarm was continuously sounding, the occupant was treated by Ambulance paramedics as firefighters entered the property wearing two breathing apparatus and a gas monitor. Crews took a positive reading for carbon monoxide in the building and located the source to a defective flue of a wood burning stove. The fire in the wood burner was extinguished by crews. Firefighters ventilated the property once the fire was removed, advice was given to the occupant.
