Five firefighters on one appliance from Hayle attended a call to a bungalow with a chimney fire. Crews used a triple extension ladder, one hose reel jet, chimney rods and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.
During 2014/15 Cornwall firefighters tackled 204 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable. Regular inspection and cleaning of chimney flues will help prevent fires within chimneys. See how often you should sweep yours from the link below:
