Firefighters left the picket lines at Camborne last night to go to a property fire with persons trapped. The fire, on the first floor of a block of flats, had started in what appears to be a pile of rubbish, and had grown to such an extent it was blocking the exit of the family living in one of the flats. Firefighters tackled the blaze using hosereels and breathing apparatus after advising the family to remain in their flat near a window with the door shut. They quickly extinguished the fire and led the family to safety. The children and mother were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. This was done as a precautionary measure. The cause of the fire is suspicious and the Arson Task Force and Police are investigating.
