A crew of 6 firefighters from Penzance Community Fire Station attended a call to a property in Newlyn, earlier this evening.
Upon their arrival it was discovered that there had been a small fire in a log basket, caused by a spark from an open fire - the fire had been extinguished by the owner prior to the service's arrival, but the crew assisted with the clean up and ventilation of the property and checked the chimney and surrounding areas for hotspots.
The fire was accidental and spread.
