A crew of 6 firefighters, from Bude Community Fire Station, attended a chimney fire involving a multi fuel stove in the early hours of this morning.

Crews used a thermal imaging camera and small tools initially, and then needed to remove the registered plate of the woodburner to put the fire out.

During 2014/15 Cornwall firefighters tackled 204 chimney fires. Most chimney fires are preventable. Regular inspection and cleaning of chimney flues will help prevent fires within chimneys.
