Fire Involving Outbuilding
Maker Heights, near Kingsand at 13/08/2004 23:38
2 appliances from Torpoint and one appliance from Liskeard attended. The crews were confronted with an outbuilding well alight with gas cylinders inside. Firefighters used 2 hosereels to extinguish the fire and remained on scene until 0600hrs, damping down. Arson is suspected and the police are now dealing.
When gas cylinders are involved in fire they present considerable danger to fire crews and members of the public, including arsonists. Certain types of cylinder can remain unstable for up to 24 hours, following being involved in a fire.
