Flash Flooding At Boscastle

There is extensive flooding on the North Coast of Cornwall from Crackington Haven to Camelford. 25 Fire Appliances and over 100 personnel are within the incident parameters. The area most affected is Boscastle, this area is experiencing extensive flooding with flood waters reaching depths of up to 10 feet (3 metres). There are difficulties in getting resources into the area due to the extent of this flood water, we have reports of structural collapse and people trapped in vehicles. A Major Incident was declared at approximately 17:30 hours and all Emergency Services and other agencies are combining their efforts in a co-ordinated approach that includes the use of Military Helicopters and specialist Rescue Teams to deal with the devastating effects of this incident.
