Outbuildings On Fire At Farm

At 1154 a 999 call alerted the Brigade to a fire involving an outbuilding approximately 8 x 4 meters at a farm in the St Ewe area. 2 crews from Mevagissey and one from St Austell were mobilised. The Mevagissey crew were on scene at 1210 and St Austell crew arrived at 1213. The outbuilding, which contained straw and tractors, was well alight and crews wore breathing apparatus and used hosereels to fight the fire. Due to poor water supplies in the area a water carrier was mobilised to attend from Newquay fire station. An officer also attended the incident.
By 1300 the fire was confined to the outbuilding and actions were taken to prevent the spread of fire to an ajacent farm.

The fire was eventually extinguished at 1750.
