at 20/08/2004 15:44

Teams of firefighters will be assisting the victims of the Boscastle disaster with fire safety and flood advice during the clean up operation.

Assistant Divisional Officer Allan Guest, who will be based at the community hall in Boscastle this weekend, explained: “Residents in Boscastle have experienced a terrible catastrophe this week. The next few weeks will be just as stressful for them and members of Cornwall County Fire Brigade want to ensure that they are here to help.

He cont: “Not only do firefighters provide an emergency response but they are also trained in ‘what to do next’. Crews will be giving the residents advice on flood restoration and fire safety, as well as offering free home fire safety checks at a later date. Those that require them will be given free smoke alarms.”
