One appliance from Newquay attended when the crew were informed that there had been an explosion and fire involving a gas cylinder in a tent. The incident had occured Friday evening (27 August 2004) and one person had been removed to hospital suffering burns. The crew inspected to ensure that the cylinders were safe and that the fire, which damaged about 50% of the tent was out.
No other details regarding the incident are available from the Brigade.

Flammable liquids and LPG cylinders should be kept outside the tent.
Cooking appliances should not be used in small tents.
Keep cooking appliance away from walls and the roof where it can be easily knocked over.
Allow at least 6m spacing between tents and caravans.
Never use candles in or near a tent. Torches are much safer.
Oil burning appliances are not recommended.
